Staring at a Tree.

"I'm here staring at a tree, until either it moves or I do. "

Why Staring at a Tree?

In a hectic and hurry-up world, it's ever more important to pause, step back, and reconnect with one's self, with nature, and with the bigger picture.  I've long found a place of peace when amongst trees. I call going to a place of peace "staring at a tree," because that is one of the best places I can recommend to find peace.

A great life is made from a bunch of great 'nows' strung together. Be here, now.

Getting Present

If life is about the journey, not the destination, and if you're on the journey, you are already achieving the goal so long as you're in the moment. Letting yesterday go and letting tomorrow worry about itself, getting present releases one from sources of anxiety or depression.

Separating from thoughts

Thinking is a tool, like a hammer.  It's critical and effective when used consciously, and yet the tool can be overly used or misused. Use thoughts when they're useful.  Take time to quiet the thinking mind.

Being in awe and wonder

Wonder at the complexity and beauty in a single leaf.  See the whole tree, the forest.  People say "the devil is in the details." I say "God's in the details."
