About Staring at a Tree

About the site

Why  stare at a tree?

Because it sounds like something that no one wants to do with free time until they do it. Trees don’t move - don’t “do” anything like we normally think of doing. We’re always doing things. Always being encouraged to do things. We're more human doings than human beings. And we do things so often that we end up not really doing anything like hearing our own thoughts, connecting with God, or connecting with nature and the energy around us.

There’s something really beautiful about each tree. Any tree. Stare at it. What do you see? What do you feel inside? What do you hear in your head?  What thoughts come to mind? Now stare at the ground or your hand. Then back at the tree. There’s life there like nowhere else. Wisdom. Peace. Strength. Like Tolkien wrote in The Lord of the Rings, trees maybe just take a long time to do their things.

What are they telling you? Stare at a tree until you get your own answers.

This site originated as a place where I can write out thoughts. These musings will naturally gravitate toward my life experiences, whether about love, work, travel, society, etc.
